In a move which marks the official availability of 1 Gbps service to business users for the first time, Google has recently announced that its new fiber optic Internet service - Google Fiber - has been expanded to small businesses in some neighborhoods in Kansas City, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo.

The maps of the neighborhoods which will include the Google Fiber service for small businesses have been posted by Google on a blog on Tuesday.

The rollout of Google Fiber service to small business users is a notable move by Google, especially because when Google Fiber was first launched by the company in the two neighboring cities of Kansas City, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo, in 2012, the service was chiefly aimed at individuals and families, including home-based businesses.

The move to expand Google Fiber service to small businesses is apparently rooted in the fact that all sizes of businesses in the Kansas City area have expressed an interest in fast Web connections, like the 1Gbps service offered by Google.

In reference to the roll out of Google Fiber to small businesses in the Kansas City area, Carlos Casas - a Google Kansas City field team manager - said in the blog post: "From the start, small business owners have told us they want Google Fiber to help them move faster, work better together, reach new parts of the world without boarding a plane, and save time for the important things - like growing their business."
