Body found inside car’s trunk may be of missing Greenville woman

Police detectives from Greenville discovered a woman's body inside the trunk of a car parked at an apartment building in Northeast Dallas on Tuesday.

Detectives believe that the body found from the car parked at the Sontera Palms Apartments off Royal Lane and Abrams Road, in the Lake Highlands area, may be of the woman who was reported missing in the city a few weeks ago.

Lisa Byrd-New Andrews, 48, was reported missing on December 11. Her family members say they had not seen her since December 7. She was last seen driving a relative's car, a 2004 Ford Mustang. The same car was found yesterday in the Dallas apartment complex.

Public records don't show that Andrews had any connections with that Lake Highlands apartment complex.

Greenville city spokeswoman Autumn Barton, however, said the department would not release the victim's name until the body was identified.

Speaking about the discovered body, Barton said, "To the best of my knowledge. This is who they were looking for. I do not know what led to this body being found, but I do know they have been mum on her status because they have been continuing to investigate."

Police department is waiting for the medical examiner to positively identify the dead body. An investigation into the apparently homicide incident is still going on.
